Fall Tuscan Yoga Retreat: La Dogana Agriturismo

Sun Sept 8th - Sat Sept 14th

Join me for an amazing week immersed in the Tuscan/Umbrian region of Italy. We'll be staying by the shores of Lake Trasimeno amidst olive orchards and Sangiovese grapes just before harvest time when Tuscany is full of giant, frangrant olives, the grapes are almost falling off the vines, the sunflowers are immense and plentiful, and the whole region is in it's slow bustle with all the wineries and shops in full season. This is my favorite time of year to be in this area, and I can't wait to share it with you all!

We will practice yoga together, enjoy the amazing farm-to-table gourmet food, sip local wine (if that's your thing), enjoy the view of the orchards and lake from the large outdoor pool, ride the trails, visit the local beautiful towns and villages with plenty of shopping and local culture. We will work the yoga and dining schedule together to allow plenty of free time to enjoy the estates and lake shore and visit the nearby gorgeous villages. This is a full retreat, you can decide to join in everything or do your own thing.

Extra Options/Activities

*Local Tuscan City/Village Trips

These visits to local towns are the highlight of the trip, in my opinion. The visits will be scheduled for the group, but the cost is extra for the transport.

A romantic ancient town at 30 minutes by car from us with a stunning view over the valley and full of lovely artisan shops and cafes. We advice to visit also l’eremo "Le Celle" a Franciscan hermitage located at 5 kilometres from Cortona, a charming and peaceful place amidst an ancient wood.

Castiglion del Lago

At 25 minutes from us another old town with a bird view over the Trasimeno lake. It is worth a visit to the ancient town hall Palazzo della Corgna full of ancient affresco.

Perugia is the capital city of Umbria, located in a high hilltop is one of the main Italian Etruscan cities. With the highway you will be there in 30 minutes. In the city there are many ancient churches and place to visit but we also truly recommend a unique textile museum located in the Women's Church of Saint Francis called Brozzetti Museum.

Trasimeno Lake Islands

Maggiore Island is the biggest island still inhabit, with some shops and a small old church to visit. The ferry boat departs from Tuoro beach. Polvese island is the middle island, not inhabit, with more wild nature and a nice beach. The ferry boat departs from San Feliciano.

We will be providing coach transfers from the Florence International airport. The retreat begins on Sunday the 8th, and most flights from Boston to Italy are overnight, so I recommend flying on Saturday evening and arriving early Sunday morning. We will arrange the coach times as you register and get your flight information. If you are coming early to spend some time in Florence, the airport is easily accessible in the city via train or taxi to meet the coaches. It is also extremely easy to drive if you want to rent your own car to explore. I've done this many times myself. Just make sure you get the local GPS from the car rental service and not rely on iphone GPS.

Your Instructor

Todd Erik Skoglund

From a host of various athletic activites and movement modalities, including various martial arts, calisthenics, gymnastics and acrobatics, I fell in love with the practice of yoga for its ability to ground me in the present moment, uniting my internal world with external experience.

I have led multiple international retreats, including three in various parts of Italy. On retreat with me everything is optional. There are plenty of included activities for you to relax, unwind, explore, taste, shop, and soak in. Classes will be geared for an All Levels crowd and scheduled around planned activities and meals, and everyone is welcome. My idea of retreat isn't a yoga training where you practice 4 times a day. I choose these amazing locations for you to enjoy and explore fully. Classes, always optional, will be once or twice a day depending on the daily schedule.

Todd founded and co-owns South Boston Yoga, where he leads all levels classes, advanced asana and co-directs the 200hr and 500hr Yoga teacher trainings certification programs. Todd also teaches classes at Equinox Clubs in Boston and leads retreats and workshops around the US and abroad. His classes are challenging, fun, intelligent and taught with great respect and purpose, bringing you a better awareness of your body's options.
